The following pictures are real thermal images taken at various sites with the first picture showing the actual component(s) concerned.

A picture of the cabling into a connection unit.Thermal images shows hotspots around the cables at the connection.

Heating is seen around the cables on this connection unit. it is unlikely that this would be found under normal maintenance procedures.

A distribution board which has no outward sign of any problems occurring. The thermal image shows overheating possibly due to circuits being added to the board without consideration as to the loading.

This shows heating of lighting circuits on a distribution board. Additional circuits are often added to distribution boards without any consideration of the loading of the board, the thermal image shows the overheating which is occurring.

An MCB which from a visual inspection looks fine. Hotspots on the top and bottom of the MCB are shown on this thermal image

Heating can clearly be seen on the top and bottom of this MCB. Poor terminations are often a cause of such problems.

Picture of a contactor. The thermal image shows hotspots which are occurring.

This shows heating in a contactor. The surface temperature and heating profile give a good indication of whether an item is operating within its correct parameters.
